Plexus Corp. operates and manages this website under the web address www.plexus.com to provide online visitors (“you” or “your”) with information on the business-to-business products, services and further activities of Plexus Corp. and its worldwide affiliates (“Plexus” or we”).  In the context of the services provided by and as part of the website (“Website”), the personal data of online visitors are processed.

As data controller and data processor, Plexus is committed to protecting the personal data and privacy of its employees, customers, business partners, and online visitors.  The purpose of this privacy notice (“Notice”) is to inform visitors of this Website on how we collect, use, store, process, transfer, share, retain and protect your personal data. Plexus takes the protection of your personal information and privacy very seriously, and we always follow the lawful bases and applicable principles of legal compliance, minimum necessity, openness and transparency, security and reliability to protect your personal data and privacy.

Plexus’ Legal and Compliance Department, in collaboration with regional Data Protection Officers (where applicable), oversee compliance with data protection laws and applicable adequacy or transfer agreements and provide guidance and advice to those supporting Plexus operations.  Contact information for our legal and compliance department and the regional Data Protection Officers is found under the section titled “How to contact us”.

This Website may contain links to third party websites that are provided for the convenience of our visitors. These third party sites are not under our control and may have their own privacy notices.  You should carefully review the privacy notices and legal information provided to you on those sites.  In addition, Plexus is not responsible for the content on these sites, and these links do not create, express or imply any approval or endorsement of those sites by Plexus.

Plexus makes no representations whatsoever as to any other website that you may access through our Website.

How we collect personal data

You provide the personal data we collect:

  1. When you submit a “contact us” request to receive more information about Plexus as a service provider to your organization, to inquire about opportunities to be a supplier to Plexus, or to submit a general inquiry to us;
  2. When you inquire about career opportunities with Plexus. Note that should personal data be required to provide employment and you decline, then that employment process will not move forward;
  3. When you sign up or subscribe to our newsletter.

At all times in accordance with a data subjects statutory right the following information is collected:

  1. When you visit our Website, we collect technically necessary data (for example, your IP address) essential for the purpose that is transmitted to our server by your browser (e.g. browser type/version, operating system used, referrer URL, pages accessed, length of visit, IP address, date and time of request) or that is technically required by necessary or functional cookies. Refer to the section titled “Further information about the use of cookies” for additional information.
  2. As far as personal data is concerned, we process this on the lawful basis of our legitimate interest in providing you with a functioning, secure Website. We reserve the right to check this data retrospectively if we become aware of specific indications of illegal use.
  3. We, with the assistance of third party analytics service providers (e.g., Google Analytics), will compile aggregate statistics about site use and response rates, though only if you consent to such processing.

What personal data we collect

Plexus will only collect personal data for the purposes described in this Notice and in accordance with legal requirements and the principles of "lawfulness, legitimacy and necessity". The following is a list of the personal data elements Plexus may collect:

  1. Contact information such as your name, email address, phone number, job title, information about your company, country or region if you initiate a contact request;
  2. Information about the nature of your contact request;
  3. Technical data, including your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring website or URL (i.e., the last site you visited prior to our Website), date and time of your visit;
  4. Cookie data or other similar online identifiers, such as a unique visitor ID for recognizing returning visitors, number of visits, time of visit, pages visited, and duration of time on page if you consent to such processing.

What principles apply for the purpose(s) for which we use your personal data

We process the personal data submitted to us by you or collected when you visit our Website for the following purposes:

  1. To respond to your requests for information and general inquiries initiated by you through the “contact us” forms on our Website;
  2. To return information about current job openings matching the criteria you specified in your search on our careers page and, if you choose to apply for a position, link you to our online application tool;
  3. To deliver our newsletter to you by email;
  4. To enable the delivery of the content and features of the Website and improve its performance.  For example, by understanding the type of browser or operating systems interacting with our site, we can ensure all pages display correctly and load in a timely fashion;
  5. To detect and prevent malicious cyber-attacks against our Website which would disrupt the availability of our Website;

Lawful, legal bases for which we use personal data necessary for the purpose

Our lawful and legal bases for processing your personal data are:

  1. The provision of information requested by Website visitors (e.g., responses to contact requests, our newsletter, job opening search results or connection to our online job application tool);
  2. The consent of Website visitors;
  3. The legitimate interest of protection of the infrastructure used to provide the Website, in particular to identify, eliminate and preserve evidence of disruptions;
  4. The legitimate interest of measurement of user behavior on the Website at an aggregated level (e.g., pages most frequently visited, average durations of visits, rates of response to newly posted content);
  5. Although not the primary purpose of our Website’s contact request forms, if the nature of a request is related to an existing contract with Plexus (for example, an inquiry about an order, delivery of product or an invoice), our lawful basis for using this information is to fulfill the terms of that contract and also our legitimate interest to provide timely response to our business partners.

With whom we share personal information

Further to this Notice, the personal data collected through you visiting our Website is shared with third party service providers – namely our Website hosting provider and, occasionally, our Website consulting partner – to make the content and features of the Website available to you and to maintain the security and functionality of the Website.

The personal data collected from subscribers to our newsletter is shared with our third party e-mail newsletter provider.

Depending on the nature of the request, we share your personal data in specific ways though at all times considering the lawful basis and purpose, which is collected through our contact forms.  This will include appropriate Plexus personnel who may be located outside the U.S. or the E.U. or the U.K. For example, if you are a potential customer whose primary operations are located in the UK we will route your request to our Plexus Corp (UK) Limited team for response.

We engage third party service providers, such as Google Inc., to analyze the technical data (e.g., IP address, browser type and version, referring URL) and Website visitor usage data (pages visited, durations and frequencies) generated by Website user activities while on the site to provide aggregated usage statistics to us.

The Website account data (email address and password) created by you if you have elected to apply for a job opening through our Website is shared with the third party online application tool provider.

We only allow our service providers to handle your personal data where we are satisfied they appropriately protect your personal data.  This may include contractual obligations on service providers to ensure they can only use your personal data to provide the services we have instructed them to provide to us or to you and to ensure compliance with data protection laws.

Plexus will not rent or sell personal information obtained through this Website to any third parties to be used for their own independent purposes.  However, in the event of a change in control of Plexus or sale by Plexus of substantially all of its assets, information owned by or in control of Plexus may be transferred to the Plexus successor.  We will typically anonymize personal data in this circumstance, but it may not always be possible.

Other than as described above, we will only disclose your personal data to third parties when you have provided your express consent to do so; when we are required to do so under applicable law, regulation or judicial order; or as required to investigate actual or alleged fraudulent or criminal activities.

The California Consumer Privacy Act prohibits selling personal information of a consumer under the age of 16 without consent.   Children aged 13-16 can directly provide consent.  Children under 13 require parental consent.  As described above, Plexus does not sell personal information regardless of age.

Cross-border transfers of personal information.

As a global organization, Plexus may transfer your personal data as provided by this Notice to jurisdictions other than your own. Plexus will only transfer your personal data based upon the lawful basis and the purpose where:

  1. The country to which the personal data is to be transferred ensures an adequate level of protection for personal data.
  2. Plexus has put in place appropriate and accepted safeguards to protect your personal data, such as a contract with the recipient.

Although Plexus is a global company, the Website is controlled and operated by the US based parent company and its third party service providers.  In order to provide the content, respond to your requests or deliver our newsletter to you in an efficient manner, it is necessary to transfer the personal data described in this Notice to servers located in the US and administered by our third party information technology service providers in the US.

In regards to contact requests, we may transfer the data provided by you in the contact request form to other Plexus affiliates responsible for providing the requested response or located in the country indicated in your request form.

Such transfers may be subject to additional restrictions under the data protection laws of the country in which the online visitor resides including but not limited to the E.U.’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the or the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China (PIPL).  We implement appropriate safeguards to ensure such transfers comply with the relevant data protection laws and rules to protect your personal data will be secure, e.g. by agreeing the so-called E.U. standard contractual clauses. If you would like additional information about cross-border transfers of data and the related safeguards, please contact our Legal and Compliance Department as described in the section titled “How to contact us.”

How long we keep personal data

Different retention periods apply to different personal data where required for the purpose, and at all times minimized as far as possible and only where there is no other less intrusive means of doing so. The retention periods in place are:

  1. The period for which the data is necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Notice, provided, however, that this will at all times be minimized pursuant to a specific purpose;
  2. Legal and regulatory requirements and guidance;
  3. Limitation periods that apply in respect to legal action;
  4. Our ability to defend ourselves against legal claims or complaints;
  5. The operational requirements of our business.

When it is no longer necessary to retain your data, we will delete it or anonymize it.

The steps we take to protect personal data
